Powerful tile & grout cleaning system

Ceramic Tile & Stone Cleaning System

Let Pacific Tile & Grout Cleaning Service get you off your hands knees with a new, powerful, fast and safe, tile cleaning process. Using a specially developed pre-treatment solution and our high-pressure, hot water rinse, we can restore and clean all your stone, ceramic tile and grout surfaces.   You can see great results anywhere in your home: bathroom floors, showers and tubs, kitchen floors, tiled foyers and entryways, tiled halls, sunrooms, countertops, and more. We also recommend using a sealer on your grout after it has been cleaned. This provides extra protection as it seals the grout, making it resistant to spills, stains, and keeping the grout and the surface looking clean longer.

Bathroom Tile Cleaning

Cleaned Bathroom Tile

Whether it’s tile walls, shower tiles, or tile floors, bathroom tile is considered one of the toughest tiles on earth to clean, especially if it is not cleaned on a regular basis. Build up from shampoos, soap and dirt tend to stick like glue to tiled surfaces. Because tiles are typically used in spaces that are steamy, wet or moist the majority of the time, mold and mildew are also a common problem. Our tile cleaning system can get rid of most of these problems.  If tile cleaning is done on a regular basis, basic household cleaners, along with a brush or sponge and hot water will do. But for heavy-duty tile cleaning, it may take our industrial strength cleaner and our specially designed tile cleaning system.

Floor Tile Cleaning

Before & After Tile Cleaning

Nothing shows off a room more than beautifully maintained tile or stonework.  But keeping that flooring looking nice take a lot of hard work.  Who has the time to get down on your knees every week?  Our tile cleaning system works great on ceramic tile, porcelain, stone and other hard surfaces.  See what a dramatic difference our cleaning system can make on your tile and stone flooring.

How Our Tile Cleaning System Works

Some people call our “Cleaning System” a steam cleaning system”. Actually steam cleaning tile isn’t based on steam, but rather a continuous “blast” of high water pressure to the surface. The continuous stream of hot water loosens the dirt, film, and mildew and allows the tiled surface to be wiped clean after blasting. There is no need for detergents, cleaning solutions, or scrubbing. Steam cleaning tile is gentle enough to be considered safe for the majority of tiled surfaces, but powerful enough to remove dirt and film from tough to clean spaces such as cracks and molding.  Overall, steam cleaning tile provides a sparkling finish.

Proper Care of Your Tile Floors

Proper care of your floor prevents damage, extends its life and keeps it looking new for years. How do you properly care for your flooring?

If you enjoy going barefoot or even if you don’t, kick your shoes off at the door. Why remove your shoes? If you have a rough board that needs smoothing you grab a sheet of sandpaper for the job. Guess what’s on the bottom of your shoes? Sand and dirt grind away at the surface of your floor causing an early death.

A closer look at the bottoms of those shoes and you’ll find oil, dirt and heaven only knows how many tidbits of left over dog deposits. Small wonder why your floors stubbornly refuse to come clean. Do wear slippers or socks inside. The oil from the bottom of your feet also dirties the surface.

Always seal grout lines after steam cleaning tile to protect it and make get the most life from your flooring.

Carpet Cleaning & Upholstery Cleaning Services

Just a reminder, we do more than just tile.  We also do Carpet Cleaning and Upholstery Cleaning.  Chances are no matter what your cleaning needs are, our Carpet, Upholstery and Tile Cleaning services has you covered.  Just give us a call and see for yourself, the Pacific Tile Cleaning of Orange County difference!

Travertine Cleaning, Sealing, and Polishing Orange Countytravertine_cleaning_las_vegas_702-423-6092Pacific Carpet & Tile Cleaning of Orange County  is a travertine cleaning, sealing, and polishing company in Orange County CA. Travertine in Orange County and Los Angeles, is a popular choice for floors, showers, tub decks, vanities and countertops. The use of travertine in the kitchen and bathroom, is not as hard or dense as granite. Like many stone products, travertine can be etched from acidic liquids, such as coffee, juice and cleaning with harsh and abrasive cleaners. Severe natural stone acid etching can only be repaired by a professional. Sealing your travertine helps guard against etching and staining.  Let the professionals at Carbonated Solutions give you a free written estimate and teach you how to properly maintain your travertine, ensuring it lasts as long as you live in your home.

Travertine Cleaning and Care Steps

  1. Remove dirt, sand and particles that could scratch the travertine. A canister vacuum, handheld vacuum, or sweeping is preferable to pushing an upright across floors, because the wheels can scratch the travertine with repeated use. Living in a desert like Las Vegas Nevada this should be done at least once to twice a week.
  • Dry dust mop floors or wipe down countertops with a soft cloth to remove any leftover particles that could scratch the tile. Take care not to press too hard into the tile, so you don’t push small rocks and dirt into the natural stone.

2.  Wet mop using a traditional mop and bucket or soft flat mop?

  • Travertine cleaning made simple. Travertine manufacturers recommend using a neutral Ph travertine cleaner. Neutral Ph cleaners do not contain any ingredients that could remove the sealant or damage the travertine. Dilute the neutral Ph travertine cleaner according to the manufacturers directions. Home stores and stone dealers sell stone cleaner made for travertine or marble. We are an authorized Dupont StoneTech distributor for the Las Vegas valley and always have products available for purchase.
  • If you choose another type of travertine cleaner, it shouldn’t contain harsh chemicals. Mix a very small amount with warm water.
  • When using a traditional mops such as cotton string mops or sponge mops. Make sure to change the mop water frequently. Failure to do so can result in just spreading the dirt around. The use of a microfiber dust mop and a neutral Ph natural stone cleaner can make travertine maintenance easier for you.

3.  Remove moisture with a dry mop or soft towel (air drying may leave streaks on the travertine).

  • Take care not to use  abrasive materials or harsh cleaners. Cleaning your travertine with these cleaning agents may scratch or etch the stone removing the luster of your travertine.

4.  Call a professional travertine cleaner if you aren’t seeing results.

  • Professionals can perform travertine cleaning, sealing, polishing or restoration to bring back travertine to its original finish. Our travertine and natural stone cleaning experts in Las Vegas provide free in home estimates.

Travertine Cleaning Products

Pacific of Orange County is an authorized distributor of DuPont™ StoneTech®. DuPont™ StoneTech® Professional stone, tile and masonry care products are innovative, easy-to-use solutions to protect and preserve stone against the damaging effects of everyday living. With a complete line of products to protect, clean and transform stone surfaces, we help ensure the beauty of natural stone and tile countertops, floors, showers and vanities for generations to come.

Travertine Sealing

Travertine is a stone that is used in flooring, countertops, showers and back splashes alot in Las Vegas. The stone is porous and can stain easily if the pores are not sealed with a penetrating sealer. This sealer will keep spills and splashes from soaking into the travertine. The porous nature of travertine requires the stone to be cleaned and sealed every one to two years. Once natural stone is properly sealed, it’s protected from everyday spills. Instead of being absorbed into the stone, they will bead up on the surface. When cleaning and maintaining  it’s equally important to use cleaners specially formulated for your travertine. Most general purpose cleaners, acidic and alkaline solutions, abrasives, ammonia or bleach can break down the sealer and damage natural stone surfaces. DuPont™ StoneTech’s heavy duty stone cleaners and natural stone sealants were carefully designed for natural stone, providing you with peace of mind.

  • Acidic substances such as citrus, vinegar, wine and soda etch (or erode) travertine, so it is important that these spills get cleaned as soon as possible. It is also important to keep up with the maintenance on the sealing of your travertine surfaces because when the pores are sealed the acid stays on the surface longer and less etching occurs.
  • Do not use a topical sealer. Topical sealers on your travertine floors can scuff and come off.  Also, the porous nature of the stone can get air bubbles and attract dirt and oils. Penetrating sealers expand in the pores to become part of the stone while protecting it.

Polishing Travertine

Is there a need to polish my travertine? Travertine tile is a type of tile that is greatly related to limestone. Travertine forms over thousands of years and contains patterns and colors that are a lovely addition to any home. Travertine tiles are utilized both in the floors of many homes as well as on countertops. This beautiful material works well in almost any room of the house. Due to the beautiful texture that is indicative of the natural stone coupled with the sheen that appears on nicely polished travertine tiles.

If you have purchased a home that already had travertine tile installed or if you did not receive care and maintenance tips when your tile was installed, polishing the travertine can seem like a task fraught with danger. No one wants to damage such an important show piece in the home, but travertine that has lost it’s polished luster definitely needs maintenance.

Over time, the polish of travertine tiles become worn and scratched from chairs, pets, dry particulate, and shoes. This leaves the travertine tiles looking dull and unsightly. Restoration and travertine polishing removes the scratches and leaves the floor with a renewed shine. Using special polishing pads with a buffing machine is like sanding down all the blemishes and resurfacing the travertine tiles. Because travertine tiles are consistently colored all the way through, there is no need to worry about damaging the surface. Maintenance polishing of your travertine should be done by a professional every 12-36 months depending on the amount of use in your home.

Travertine Polishing

Travertine polishing is a very important step in the travertine stone restoration process.Just polishing travertine without honing, will not remove unwanted etch marks or accumulation of scratches.Honing the travertine is always recommended before polishing.Honing is the complex process of restoring marble or travertine floors or other surfaces with the use of diamond encrusted pads to scratch, or hone the marble surface.Honing travertine first starts with a course grit diamond pad, removing a layer of travertine and continuing on to finer grit diamond pads to attain the desired polished finish. The last few honing steps are actually mechanically polishing the travertine.Polishing Travertine Floors   Once the travertine surface begins to have some reflective properties, the last step is to polish the travertine with polishing powders. This step is actually chemically polishing as opposed to mechanically polishing, and should only be done after the honing process. An etch mark occurs when an acidic liquid comes in contact with a travertine surface reacting with the calcium in the tavertine. If the etch mark is not too severe, sometimes polishing with a powder will remove the etch mark. However, if the etch mark is too deep, honing is necessary to remove the etch mark and then can be polished. In general, mopping your travertine floors regularly with aneutral floor cleaner and a flat mop, will be the best and easiest way to maintain your travertine.

Polishing Travertine Floors

If you have polished travertine floors in your home or place of business, eventually they will need to be polished. However, if it’s been a while since they were installed, it’s most likely they will need to be honed first, before travertine polishing can begin.Travertine Polishing   In some cases, we are able to do just a polishing step to restore the brillant finish, but this is rare.Polishing travertine floors or marble stone restoration is a multi-step process and sometimes can take more than a day to do if the floor is quite large.Because honing travertine floors is a done using water, there is no dust associated with the process. After each honing step and the travertine polishing step, all the excess water is vacuumed up.When it comes to travertine polishing or just maintaining natural stone and tile and grout, we strive to help educate our customers on the best protection they can have, helping them save time and money in costly restoration costs down the road.

Let’s Talk About Marble Cleaning and Marble Polishing – Orange County CA

Marble Cleaning and Travertine Cleaning Photo Gallery  Sometimes people use the phrases marble cleaning and marble polishing interchangeably. We have run across a number of people who believe that the dull look on the marble floor or travertine floor can be removed by cleaning. Often times, cleaning the floor using our pressurized cleaning process makes the floors look significantly better. In fact, the grout lines are often brought back to 80% of brand new. However, if the floor is dull, more than likely you will need a travertine or marble polishing process described on this page.

Your Marble or Travertine Floor: It Doesn’t Last Forever?

You put a tremendous amount of time in contemplation and finally you made the decision to go natural. Maybe it was the touch, the look or how it made you feel. Once installed, your marble floor or marble countertop looked wonderful; lustrous shine, depth of reflection and smooth to the touch and so pristine. Life was good. And then it began. Worn patterns, stains and scratches emerged. Grout lines turned dark. And what was once a focal point of the home, has now become an eye sore.

Your Marble Floor Looks Dull. How Did This Happen?

Marble Floor and Travertine Floor Cleaning  Often when people think about marble or travertine stone they assume that no care or maintenance is required. Marble floorsor marble countertops are ignored or the stone is cleaned with the wrong method or chemical. Because of misinformation or no education, the consumer is not in a good position to maintain their new stone; consequently, damage to the stones crystals sets in. The damaged crystals prevent light from being reflected evenly thereby giving you a dull look.

Let’s go into this with a little more detail.

Reflectivity of Marble or Travertine Stone

Marble or travertine stone contains natural crystals. These crystals reflect light to provide a shine on the surface. When these crystals turn dull, crushed or broken, they cannot reflect light evenly. For example, when the lens of a flashlight breaks, it cannot reflect the light that is being emitted from the bulb.

Polished marble stone becomes dull when heavy foot traffic along with sediment erodes the crystals. Normal footwear does not cause the main damage, sediment and grit do. The sediment and grit that finds its way inside from outside, is often harder than your stone. This becomes the main enemy of stone crystal. The damage to the crystals occurs when the pressure from the shoe forces the sediment to abrade or fracture the crystals.

Other issues that negatively affect the stone are etching from acidic substances such as food, alcohols, perfumes and certain cleaning materials. If the floor is not properly sealed, the floors can easily stain from spills or accidents.

What Can We Do to Fix the Marble Stone?

The only way to restore the shine back onto your marble stone is to SHARPEN the crystals in the stone. This can only be done through honing and polishing using diamond abrasives and polish (explained below). Marble and travertine are soft materials compared with granite. Granite contains quartz minerals. The darker the color of the stone the more time it takes to polish it. Granite can take three to five times longer to polish than softer material.

How Do We Clean and Polish Granite, Marble, and Travertine?

What is honing?

Honing is the process for smoothing the stone with the use of abrasives. We use either a weighted buffing machine or our Cimex orbital machine to complete this  Honing Smoothes the Granite Stone

The diamonds work to abrade the floor creating a slurry. This makes the floor smooth and clean. If the floor does not have deep scratches, often the restoration project can start here. The grit level starts at 120 or so and runs to 800. Moderate scratch marks and etching can be removed through honing. Once you are into the higher grit numbers, a satin finish will be achieved. Some clients desire a satin look and wish to stop here. Others prefer a higher gloss and wish to move to the next phase, polishing.

Polishing Marble or Travertine Stone

As with the honing process, we will continue using either a weighted buffing machine or our Cimex Orbital machine. Once again, we will use polishing pads and attach them to the bottom of our pad driver. However, we will use finer and finer abrasives to produce a highly reflective finish. The shine intensity varies based on grit number. Polishing grits will run from 800 to 8500. The higher the number the higher the gloss

The last step of polishing is the use of polishing powders. Polishing powders often give that extra edge and often can make the surface uniform. Polishing powders contain abrasive and accelerators that are chemically potent. The kind of powders use will depend on the type of stone and the mineral mix within the stone.

If the floors are in decent shape or you have a maintenance plan in place, it is possible the only service you may need is only polishing. Our clients normally like to hear those words because it means less time and money.

What happens when the tile on your floor are so uneven it’s causing problems either staying clean (dirt collecting in the cracks) or walking without stubbing your toe or tripping?

This is where you may want to consider grinding down the high areas.

Grinding Marble or Travertine Stone

A process by which the surface is aggressively sanded to remove large stocks of the stone. This process is usually recommended when stone tiles are uneven. Lippage is the term given to uneven tiles that are set higher than one another. Grinding is recommended when the lippage exceeds 1/8 inch or if one desires to have a completely flat floor.

Grinding is an aggressive process using metal-bonded and diamond grit to remove deep scratches and lippage. A completely flat floor eliminates all unevenness, giving the floor the illusion of being monolithic (one piece).

Grinding the stone is messy work. But worth it!!

Who Does Office Commercial Carpet Cleaning in Orange County?

image

Commercial Carpet Cleaning – Orange County CA

Carpets in offices, retail, transportation and healthcare facilities take a beating with heavy foot traffic, spills, sand, salt, water and other messes that can make them look dirty and worn. Regular, professional carpet cleaning is the best way to extend the life of your carpets and keep them looking beautiful for their lifetime.

Schools, hotels, medical offices, car showrooms and other facilities with high traffic need their carpets cleaned more often to maintain cleanliness, manage wear and tear, and improve their brand image. Other types of businesses typically need carpet cleaning a few times a year to remove spills and dirt.

There are two basic carpet cleaning methods: hot water extraction (also known as steam cleaning) and low-moisture encapsulation. If carpet restoration is needed, then the two processes can be done together to bring your carpets back to life.

Low-moisture Encapsulation

Low-moisture encapsulation is gentle on your carpets, removes stains permanently, and can be done monthly. Because no water is used in the process, carpets can be walked on soon after cleaning, reducing wait time. Crystal extract chemistry emits no Volatile Organic Compound (VOCs), so the process is environmentally friendly. As the machine moves across your carpet, its brushes lift the carpet fibers giving way for the cleaning chemistry to reach each fiber and lift the stains leaving the carpet pile looking very clean and refreshed.

The use of low-moisture carpet cleaning systems can increase the performance and appearance of your carpet, extend its useful life, and minimize the downtime that is commonly associated with carpet cleaning.

Hot Water Extraction

Hot-water extraction, or steam-cleaning, is a very common way to safely deep clean carpets. First the carpet is pre-sprayed with carpet cleaning solution. The hot water extractor sprays boiled water onto the carpet via high pressure jets in a wet vacuum wand, removing dirt and odors and killing germs in the process. It is very important that the moisture is not left in the carpeting because mold and mildew can result.

Steam cleaning is environmentally friendly and is an effective way to remove dust mites and other organisms that may be living in your carpet. However, it does require drying time so it must be scheduled during “off hours.” Pacific offers professional carpet care programs that can revitalize your carpets and extend their useful life.

Carpet Restoration

If your carpets are very worn, dirty or dull, then Carpet Restoration can bring them back to life. This process uses Low-Moisture Encapsulation to lift carpet fibers, followed by Hot Water Extraction to penetrate the carpet and deep clean below the surface.

Carpet Cleaning Expertise

Not every janitor is trained and prepared to deep clean your carpets correctly. For example, some companies load their machines with the wrong soaps or chemicals that don’t properly rinse out leaving a sticky, soapy residue that will rapidly resoil. Other companies will do a hot water extraction (steam clean) more than once a year, which can oxidize the carpet and break down the fibers. Additionally, it’s important that your carpet care provider uses processes that will not void your carpet warranty.

The Pacific Carpet Cleaning System partners with advanced cleaning companies that develop carpet care machines focused on delivering consistently beautiful results. For example, Pacific Carpet Cleaning Equipment can add two years to the expected ten-year life of carpets in commercial facilities.

Proper Maintenance of Your Natural Stone and Ceramic Tile Floors and Countertops

Clean your tile & grout in Old Saybrook CT

Cleaning & sealing your tile surface will preserve your investment.

The popularity of natural stone floors and countertops, and ceramic tile floors continues to grow each year. These beautiful surfaces can be expensive, and it is important to understand the proper sealing and cleaning procedures needed to protect your investment and avoid damaging the surface.

One of the questions I hear most frequently is “Do I really need to seal my stone/grout?” The answer is yes. Your natural stone or your ceramic tile surfaces should be sealed with an impregnating sealer shortly after installation. Most sealers last for a few years if properly maintained, but like everything else; they eventually break down and should be reapplied periodically. Sealer is necessary because your grout lines and natural stone surfaces are porous and will absorb spills and oily soils. It can be very difficult to clean or extract these soils once they have deeply penetrated the surface of your grout or stone. The sealing process fills these pores with a clear impregnating sealer, but does not change the appearance of the surface. The sealer will make it easier for you to properly clean the surface, and will protect the surface from becoming deeply, permanently stained. Another type of sealer is an “enhancing” sealer which will change the appearance of the stone surface and give it a wet glossy look.

Most grout is cement-based (i.e. comprised primarily of Portland cement). Cement-based grout lines are porous and should be sealed. Another type of grout is epoxy grout. Epoxy grout is used much less frequently, but it is not porous and does not need to be sealed. Stonetech, a division of DuPont, makes a stone and tile cleaner called “Revitalizer” which not only cleans, but also contains an impregnating sealer. So each time you use this product to clean, you are also putting a little bit of sealer back into the surface. It’s not necessary to use this product every time you clean, but I do recommend using it periodically.

It is also important to use the proper cleaning products on your stone or tile. General use cleaning products, ammonia, bleach, or acidic cleaners can damage stone and prematurely degrade your sealer. Even “natural” cleaning products like vinegar and lemon juice will damage certain stone surfaces and degrade your sealer prematurely. Always use a neutral pH tile or stone cleaning product. “Neutral” means that the compound is a “7” on the pH scale. The pH scale runs from “1” to “14.” The lower numbers correspond to highly acidic compounds, while the higher numbers correspond to highly alkaline compounds like bleach. Look for a specialty stone/tile cleaner that is neutral, or a “7” on the pH scale. The pH of the cleaner is usually noted on the label. Specialty stone and tile cleaners can be found at most home centers, or purchased on line.

It is especially important to avoid using acidic cleaning products, or vinegar, or lemon juice, on calcium-based stones like marble, limestone, or travertine. Acids will react with the calcium in the stone and etch, or dull the surface. Etching can be reversed, but requires re-polishing, which can be pricey.

Even if you do everything correctly, you will reach a point where you can no longer get your grout lines, or your stone surfaces clean. At this point, you will require a professional cleaning to restore the surface to its original beauty. Your surfaces should be re-sealed after an aggressive professional cleaning, as the cleaning process will degrade your sealer. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at (949) 203-3959.

How to deep clean your tile floors – Orange County CA

Woman sweeping tile floor

Deep cleaning your floors will spruce up your whole home — but doing it properly takes a little patience and know-how. Luckily, we’ve drummed up several professionals to offer you some expert tips on deep cleaning your tile floors.

Floor duty

Step 1: Start with the basics

Stacy McCall, president and CEO of Pacific Carpet & Tile Cleaning in Orange County, says, “Sweeping works fine for most floors, but vacuuming is a better choice, even for tile. Most vacuums have a hard floor surface setting. If not, raise height to maximum setting to avoid scratching [the] floor. This will make mopping easier and prevent dirt that sweeping left behind from being spread around.”

Step 2: Know your surface

David Schliefer of Grout Works in New Jersey says, “In order to clean a tile floor you must first be aware of the type of tile you have. Any natural stone, such as marble and travertine, is sensitive to many cleaning products.” Only use products intended for the type of tile you have.

McCall adds, “Ceramic tiles are made for mopping. A general-purpose cleaner is fine for daily maintenance. Just make sure that you use the grout and tile cleaners recommended by the manufacturer. Not all tiles are the same, and some tile cleaners will mar or dull tiles.”

Mopping 101 >>

For porcelain tile,  Pacific Carpet Cleaning in Orange County ca, suggests using an alkaline-based cleaner. He says, “It is important that it is alkaline based, as this will break down the grime in the tiles and grout. Using hot water, dilute the cleaner according to its label and use it to mop your floor. Let it soak for a good half an hour, but don’t let it dry. Reapply the cleaning solution liberally when needed.”

Step 3: Determine the dirt

Schliefer says, “Assuming your tile is porcelain or ceramic, which is generally the case, the next step is to figure out what kind of dirt you are trying to clean.”

If the dirt is in the bathroom and shower, then soap scum is probably to blame — in which case he advises, “You will need a good soap-scum remover and a brush that is good for removing soap scum.”

However, if your kitchen tiles are dirty, grease and grime are likely the culprits. He suggests using a de-greasing product or cleaners that say they “cut grease.”

Schliefer says using a clean cotton mop should work fine for most smooth-tiled floors, while rough-textured tiles may require a scrub brush to get them clean.

McCall says that an electric scrubber may be needed if you are working with caked-on messes or stains.

How to tell if your floors are really clean >>

Step 4: Prevention

Finally, McCall adds that prevention is the best medicine for dirty floors. She says, “Don’t forget — the best way to keep your tile floor clean is to prevent it from getting dirty in the first place. Mats, both outside and just inside each door, can go a long way toward preventing dirt from tracking in — just make sure you clean the mats regularly. Making a habit of taking your shoes off at the door can help too.”

For porcelain tile, Pacific Carpet Cleaning in Orange County suggests using an alkaline-based cleaner.

Proper Maintenance of Your Natural Stone and Ceramic Tile Floors and Countertops – Orange County CA
